Digital Style Guide
Life Tech was in the process of converging 2 sites, Invitrogen and Applied Biosystems. Both companies had multiple brand personalities. The purpose of this guide was to harmonize these styles across all digital and print media. This resource was to provide guidelines and standards for brand, layout design, promotions, tables and much more. My challenge was to create a brand for the website where non existed before and then document it in a way where it can be accessed globally.
1 . Plan: Define Needs
Customer needs
The purpose of the guide was to facilitate customer-focused, consistent experiences across the website. .Life's long-term goal was to plan for single hub for all it's customers and to ultimately to go responsive and the style guide was to help drive towards that vision.
Business needs
Retain core integrity of the site. Use specific templates to support and promote current campaigns, product releases, announcements, seminars and more. Refine the process with quality and speed for content marketing
Users
Content managers, web production, vendors, project managers, UX team, etc
2. Brainstorm/Concepts:
Took inventory of our current templates, icons, colors, etc and began brainstorm sessions.
Collaborated with brand to work on color palette and create mood boards to define each brand personality.
Documents:
Outcome
The outcome was that this document helped facilitate customer-focused, consistent experiences across the website while also giving users of this document 24 hour access globally.
Feedback
External customer:
“Beautifully organized!!! Love the hyperlinks and the color ded column as well as your detailed attributes! The discrete survey mouse over light-up tab far well beyond distraction s superb. Whoever designed and executed this website should market their skills and expertise. Again excellent job! I' impressed!!!” - shilton12@hotmail.com

“Your work is very much appreciated!"– Cleta D'Sa
"Hey, just wanted to say how great your web style pages are, it's a pleasure to go there at a moment's notice to grab an image template, and not to have to manage my own library of them. I'm always sure I'm using the latest and greatest. Good job! –Lynn Soderberg
